libby's post-coachella tu(n)esday!
Well, as always, I'm back and sick as a dog. Isn't this always what happens post-Coachella? I'm sad and reliving the best parts of the weekend. Here is what I found to be the most amazing parts of Coachella weekend 1:
Duke Dumont
JESUS. CHRIST. The Yuma tent was absolutely packed for him and he showed why it was filled to the brim. Seamlessly mixing his original material into a 90s house-laden groove, Duke was not to be missed.
Bastille
They brought out Angel Haze right when I was about to run over to Duke so I stayed a bit longer. The energy! The overflowing tent! Dan's hair at new heights! Pretty freakin' awesome.
AlunaGeorge
How could I count out Aluna? She slithered around that stage in a mesh oneside, pretty much not giving a f*ck what people thought of her. She even performed White Noise despite coming back out to do it all over again with Disclosure a few hours later.
James Vincent McMorrow
The first act we saw on Sunday was a stunner. His falsetto didn't waver once and I was in shock with the caliber of his performance. Amazing and what a gorgeous, lush sound.
Calvin Harris
I know many people are annoyed that Coachella feels it's being too EDM-oriented, but this guy had the second biggest crowd in Coachella history. For a solid hour he had what felt like every single person at the festival going bonkers.
Disclosure
DUH. Unfortunately, everyone else decided to go see them and we were stuck way in the back of the 40,000+ deep crowd. But from what I could see, they were spot on and having a blast. Having Mary J. Blige come out to perform F For You was a crowning touch on their set.
Aloe Blacc
THIS GUY. He was tooting his own horn while performing "The Man" and then he goes and has the audience create a Soul Train line!? Unreal. And looking quite snazzy in a 3 piece suit.
CHVRCHES
Another perfect performance from the synth-pop group. And watching the crowd witness Martin's dancing was awesome.
Future Islands
Witnessing Samuel T. Herring go completely apesh*t on stage during each and every song was something I will never forget. His moves! Dear God. I was screaming-laughing during every song. And then his stage banter: "let's ride or die, motherf*ckers!" What!?
Bear Hands
If their performance is any indication, they have a bright future ahead of them. Great first showing and they definitely picked up newfound fans.
Ok, back to dying on my desk!

coachella tu(n)esday by libby hostetler
Hooray, it's that time of year where I grab all the sunscreen I can get a hold of and get ready to wipe dust and sand out of every part of my face. (Side note, my LA friend told me yesterday that when I visit, she buys 2 extra bottles of sunscreen. Thanks, German-Irish ancestors!) So, yes - it's almost Coachella time! Here's the artists I'm looking forward to seeing/crying over/losing my mind to:
Outkast - So Fresh So Clean
I mean, it's their first appearance in years and this is the first of what feels like 80 festivals they're playing at. Curious to see if they can stand up to the tremendous hype that's come about from their reunion.
Duke Dumont - I Got U
Oh God, this is probably going to be my first "ugly Oprah cry" moment. I've been listening to Annie Mac play this song for about 3 months now and I've never gotten sick of it.
Nas - Get Down
I love his anger. That's all.
Blood Orange - You're Not Good Enough
I had the pleasure of seeing Dev Hynes open up for Sam Smith last week and LOVED him.
Disclosure feat. Sam Smith - Latch
DUH.
Little Dragon - Klapp Klapp
I've always loved them but when this single was released, forget it. OOF.
The 1975 - Settle Down
Presti will probably argue with me over which song I chose but whatever, we're seeing them again. :)
John Newman - Love Me Again
Anxious to see Mr. Newman again after he cancelled his US tour. ($20 to whomever can find out WHY he had to cancel his tour. I'm still pissed.)
That's all for now! If you find me even coming close to seeing Martin Garrix, you have permission to shoot me.

tu(n)esday! summer '13 faves by libby hostetler
Well, Labor Day weekend is over with and sadly, summer is over. (For anyone questioning my love of summer as opposed to winter, just think of me angrily putting on panty hose and 5 layers of clothes AND a winter coat on before work. Even my cat is terrified of me in the winter.) SO - what were the best tunes of the summer, i.e. what did I play nonstop on my happy walk to work while trying to tame my humidity-frizzed hair? Here we go...
Disclosure - Confess to Me
DUH. I love these guys but this tune in particular makes me bounce just a little bit more down 32nd St. I think it's the way Jessie Ware absolutely kills the vocals
Saint Raymond - Fall At Your Feet
LOVE this tune. Perfect beach song!
Duke Dumont - Need U (100%)
I know, I know, this came out a few months back...but it still makes me think of summer!
Caveman - In the City
I can see this one transitioning nicely into the fall...
Kings of Leon - Wait for Me
I know, I'm a sucker for hanging in there and still loving these guys. But this is a nice, laidback summer song.
Julio Bashmore - Battle for Middle You
This might have come out a year ago and I might have just stumbled upon him. Oops.
St. Lucia - Elevate
Such a summer tune!
Sam Smith - Nirvana
Good Lord, this defines babymaking music.
And I'll think I'll leave you with that tune so we can all blissfully remember the Summer of 2013. Enjoy!
